The Darkness confirmed for T In The Park
16th December 2003 - 03:00
The Darkness have confirmed they will play T in the Park next year.
They will return to Balado by Kinross for their second consecutive appearance at the festival on July 10 and 11, 2004.
Last year, they opened the Main Stage on the Sunday with a blistering performance – a moment which Scottish bassist Frankie Poullain heralds as the peak of their year.
Lead singer Justin Hawkins followed in David Bowie’s footsteps by making the announcement live on stage at their sold out Corn Exchange gig in the capital last night.
Justin teased the crowd with the words: “Watch out in the papers tomorrow for news about T in the Park, we might be involved…”
Then, following their second encore of the night, he exited the stage with: “See you at T in the Park!”
T in the Park spokesman Geoff Ellis said: “Just like after Oasis played in the King Tut’s Tent in 1994, this year over 50,000 people have been claiming that they watched the Darkness open T in the Park in 2003 before they were famous!”
