Tribal Gathering in aid of Sudan now on sale
14th March 2005 - 13:49
Tribal Gathering is going back outdoors for the first time in eight years to raise money for the humanitarian effort in Sudan.
Organisers hope to raise about £400,000 from the event, to be held in “secret enchanted woodlands” near Leeds on July 16.
About 20,000 people are expected to hear DJs and artists, including Groove Armada, Audio Bullies, Zero 7, Francois K, Danny Rampling, Mike Pickering, X-Press 2 and Norman Jay, perform on five stages.
Tickets are priced at £39 (plus booking fee) for the first 5000 and £45 (plus booking fee) after that. They go on sale on Monday 14th March at 10:00 am and are available to purchase here.
Happy Mondays’ member and Celebrity Big Brother winner Bez, will perform a DJ set featuring “early rave and the 90s’ Madchester sound”.
Tribal Gathering’s David Vincent, said: “When I saw the pictures of what was going on in Darfur I knew I had to do something.
“Dance is perceived as not having a conscience, but people who go to dance events are quite in touch with what’s going on. We’ve got the chance to demonstrate that dance can unite and do something for the good of other people.”
Vincent said the artists would be performing for free and all profits would go to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
The location will be revealed two weeks before the event.
