V Festival headliners confirmed
21st April 2005 - 16:30
As previously announced, the Scissor Sisters are topping the bill on one night of the V Festival, but the Chelmsford and Staffordshire event organisers have now confirmed that Franz Ferdinand will be joining them as co-headliners.
Festival organisers have already announced that the Scissor Sisters will be closing the two-day and two-site festival on the Saturday night at Weston Park and the Sunday night at Chelmsford.
Franz Ferdinand frotnman Alexander Kapranos said in a statement, “We heard about what a great festival V was to play last year and wished we could’ve been there. We’re really excited to be playing the main stage and co-headlining with the Scissor Sisters – we’ll be sure to give fans a performance to remember.”
Festival Director Bob Angus commented, “With Scissor Sisters, and now Franz Ferdinand confirmed to perform, we’re confident that this years V Festival will live up to it’s reputation for fantastic live music. There’s more news to come and we look forward to unveiling a unparalleled main stage joint headline act, who, with these two acts, will make for unbeatable electric atmosphere!”
The “unparalleled main stage joint headline act” mentioned by Angus will be playing Saturday at Hylands Park and Sunday at Weston Park, and unconfirmed rumours are circulating that it is, in fact, Oasis.
The festival takes place over the weekend of August 20-21 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire. Other acts rumoured to be making an appearance include Joss Stone, Maroon 5, Ian Brown, Kasabian, New Order and Embrace.
