Bob Geldof furious at Live 8 tickets on eBay

14th June 2005 - 13:45

Bob Geldof is furious at people selling tickets for LIVE 8 on eBay.

Geldof branded concert-goers who are selling their tickets for profit on auction sites like eBay a “fucking disgrace”.

This morning (June 14), numerous tickets were being offered on the site, with bids in the region of a thousand pounds for a pair.
However, it appears that music fans are hitting back, making offers of ten million pounds in an attempt to thwart the sales.

Speaking about the situation, Geldof said: “I am sick with this. It is a fucking disgrace. It is completely against the interests of the poor. The people who are selling it are wretches.”

According to the London Evening Standard, organisers have contacted eBay in an attempt to stop the sales.

A spokesman said: “As we do not wish to profit from this event, we have offered to make a donation to the Live 8 organisers at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of Live 8 tickets.”

Tickets for Live 8, which is being held in Hyde Park on July 2, were offered free via text message lottery.
