7th June 2005 - 11:45
Rock stars Paul Weller and Status Quo will return to their home county to headline the Guilfest music event.
They are among the main attractions at the festival, due to be staged in Guildford, Surrey, from 15-17 July.
Former Jam frontman Weller and Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt were born in nearby Woking.
The event’s capacity has been increased to 17,500 per day and extra stages have been added. The bill also includes The Pogues and Daniel Bedingfield.
Guilfest organiser Tony Scott said he was excited by the festival staging the “homecoming of these music giants”.
This year’s bill also includes Scottish brothers The Proclaimers and Liverpool veterans Echo and the Bunnymen, as well as new indie acts like The Subway and The Others.
Guilfest has been held every year since 1992. Simple Minds, UB40 and Blondie headlined last year’s event.
