We prefer V, say The Zutons
23rd August 2005 - 09:52
THE ZUTONS performed two new tracks from their forthcoming
second album at the V FESTIVAL.
The Scouse five-piece played ‘Hello Conscience’ and
‘Yesterdays Draws’, which singer Dave McCabe dedicated
to everybody in the crowd with a hang over in the morning, during a 45 minute
set.
Highlights included ‘Zuton Fever’, ‘Remember Me’,
‘Havana Gang Brawl’ and ‘You Will You Won’t’.
Before the band left the stage Dave said their performance V Festival
was better than Glastonbury.
Speaking to NME.COM about the festival McCabe
said: “It (V) does have a corporate reputation and it does have advertisements
everywhere but at least it’s honest about it. But Glastonbury is just as
corporate. I enjoyed playing Glastonbury but I always look forward to V cos
we’ve done there the last few years and it’s always nice there. You always get
treated well so it’s good. My mum’s coming down for this one as well .”
Speaking about the other bands on the bill he added: “It’s kind of
Oasis‘ mates day really. I know Noel Gallagher but I
don’t really know any of the others. I’m looking forward to seeing The
Streets this year and Oasis cos they’re both pretty
good. I’ve seen The La’s a few times already so I’ll probably
give them a miss. I don’t wanna spoil it by seeing ‘em again. I wanna see them
bring a new record out so then we can go and watch them play a new record.”
