Glastonbury headliner revealed – sort of!

10th February 2006 - 11:56

Michael Eavis has given his first hints for the line-up of the next Glastonbury Festival.

Although he’s taking a year off and the event won’t return until 2007, Eavis told Xfm that he already has at least one headliner confirmed for the Festival.

“Thing is, I’ve got my headliner for 2007!” Eavis explained. “Isn’t that great? You can’t believe it can you? We’re working all the time on the line up for 2007 but i’m not telling you who it is obviously.”

When pressed the festival chief said “They’re not American, but I’m not saying a word more”, however he was quite vocal as to who he’d like to see filling other slots on the Festival’s bill.

“I’d quite like to see Jimmy Page back there with Robert Plant, that’d be great, we’re always keen on Oasis, and how about The Bee Gees? That’d be quite nice wouldn’t it?” he suggsted “There’s a whole lot of news stuff coming in – Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party and all sorts of great stuff. So I’d think some of them will come in at the Number Two slot.”

Meanwhile Eavis confirmed that a film being made about Glastonbury – covering the event’s 35 year history – is set for release in February, although they have yet to think of a name for it.
