Kaiser Chiefs in BNP video row
25th August 2006 - 06:00
Kaiser Chiefs have taken action to stop the British National Party using one of their songs in a promotional video.
Apparently the hit song, I Predict A Riot was used without permission by the political party. The video then appeared on YouTube, a web site which features videos from all over the world – this has now been removed from the site after the band complained.
The BNP deny they ever used the song, a spokesman for the party told 6 Music: “this isn’t the type of music our party would ever want to be associated with, like rap music we think it’s wrong to play this stuff, what’s wrong with Beethoven?”
A spokesman for Kaiser Chiefs admitted that Ricky Wilson and the rest of the group were upset this was used without being cleared with them first, and furthermore they want to stress to their fans that they would never be associated with the political aims of the BNP anyway.
Kaiser Chiefs will be playing Reading and Leeds this weekend.
