Muse to headline Glastonbury 2008?

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says he wants Muse to be top of the bill at next year’s festival.
Eavis says that he wanted the Devon rock trio to perform this year but the guys opted to play at Wembley Stadium instead. Talking about the conversation he had with the band, Eavis commented: “So I said, ‘Why don’t you put it off ’til next year?’”
He also revealed that he intends to carry on doing so for at least another decade.
“I’m going to keep on for another 10 years at least I reckon, touch wood and all the rest,” he told the BBC. “One day I suppose I will feel my age, will I?”

MUSE WHAT AN AMAZING BAND LIVE.
I WATCHED THEM AT GLASTONBURY 04 AND THOUGH CODPLAY, THE KILLERS AND ARTIC MONKEYS TO NAME A FEW HAVE PLAYED SINVE. THERE HASN’T BEEN A BETTER LIVE ACT SINCE THEM.
saw muse at isle of wight 2007 they would be ideal headliners for glastonbury,absolutely fantastic.

Who??!! Purlease - how about Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Scissor Sisters, etc… to name just a few acts far more eligible to headline than The Muse!!!

saw them at oxegen two nights ago and they are DEFINITELY headline material,we were so tired we could barely stand by the time they came on stage but my god they were incredible! U2 should defo headline it in the future though,would give anything to see it!
muse are around too much now, we need another top class headliner e.g. Radiohead, Led Zeppelin may get back together also!!!
muse best live act in the world at the moment saw them at wembley defo headline material. already headlined like every festival in britain and already headlined glastonbury in 2004 and their have been no better acts on that stage since
Muse were amazing last time they closed Glastonbury on the Sunday night (2004 was it?). They absolutely rocked the place!

How about the Chili Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age play next year too? And Prince perhaps? He knows how to put on a party! I’d also like to see Blur back together again at Glasto. And show Pan’s Labyrinth at the cinema too!

Muse should definatley play Glastonbury, there’s no question about it! Saw them at Wembley on 17th June and they were absolutley amazing! They’d be awesome headliners for next year!

Muse will be awesome for Glastonbury 2008. Saw Muse at Reading 2006 and they were fantastic and believe they make would make an excellent headliner for next year . Glastonbury will be my festival option for next year!!
susie- fair play to pink floyd and rolling stones suggestions but there is no way scissor sisters and robbie williams are better than muse, although they are good they are no more eligible to headline!!

This guy is crazy. Muse are britian’s best musical talent, they go where no-one has before. Robbie Williams? Scissor Sisters? No chance when you see Muse.
I was going to go to glastonbury next year to see muse because i heard they were headlining. I probably wont go if they aren’t.

MUSE are simply fantastic i saw them last year and i have failed to ever go to a better show since they should be definate headliners

I cannot believe someone said Robbie Williams should headline Glasto instead of Muse. That makes me cringe. Muse are the best live band in Britain, certainly the best live band I’ve ever seen (well, on level par with Arcade Fire perhaps).

I’ve gone to see Muse in Seattle, Paris and of course have seen them many times (including both Wembley Arena shows) and they are by far the best band in the world.. they’ve got their own unique style, and their live shows are mind blowingly intense. I’m a Glasto virgin, but not after ‘08! I wouldn’t miss it now for the world!

They put so much energy into their performances and i would pay any thing to see them at Glastonbury

Come on……..of course they’re worthy to headline. I say Kasabian friday night and MUSE saturday night!!! After putting on the likes of the Arctic Monkeys to headline this year which was ridiculous there needs to be some changes made!!!
Muse are a good band and will sell out any arena but i would like to see The Libertines preform at Glastonbury they would have been the best band on the planet if they had not split up

I saw muse at Wembley Stadium 16th of june, they were amazing, they r the perfect band for glastonbury, no other band can get such energy at a live show, the only band 2 come close is radiohead, if they both played that would b awesome!!!
Radiohead should headline this year as they’re touring. Muse are good but Radiohead are the kings of Glastonbury!
Radiohead are, obviously one of the best bands out there, but they’re probably not playing Glastonbury next year, as posted at Radiohead At Ease…
Either would be excellent, but in terms of sheer energy Muse wins out for me. They deserve it, and I’m considering flying to Glastonbury next year to see it…Sounds brilliant!

Radiohead and Muse aren’t the only bands that can get energy from a live show - have you never seen the Kings of Leon live? They rock! They’d be good headliners, however Muse are my next favourite band and they’d be brilliant headliners for Glastonbury. I was also at Wembley on 17th June - they were amazing too!
Radiohead will always have my first vote, if not realistic. Bonnaroo 06 was heaven.
But Melissa’s right - Kings of Leon fuckin rocked live. I’d love to see them at a festival.
Also, The Flaming Lips? Kasabian? The White Stripes? Arctic Monkeys again? Kanye West and Daft Punk? SOLELY Daft Punk (however improbable)? This is the time to dream about the possibilities…

Muse ARE THEE best live act around at the moment, and have been for quite a few year’s now, I thought I had experienced the best ever back in 1994 at Earls Court when I saw Pink Floyd, BUT, (short of ressurecting the behemoth stage set that is the Floyd) I think Muse is your obvious choice, erm, also, there is Led Zeppelin… HHHHMMM, maybe Muse one night and Zep the next or something ??? wow !! the Glastonbury to beat all Glastonbury’s… what do you say Mr Eavis ??

I was at Wembley too on the 16th and Muse put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. Personally Radiohead have never really impressed me, and on my first trip to Glastonbury it would be sublime if Muse were to headline.
Well get this everybody - I saw MUSE in July at Fujirock 07 in JAPAN - who’s jealous now then?? Fully agree with other like minded people on here who appreciate that Matt Bellamy is quite obviously a musical genius. Granted Kings of Leon do rock actually, as well as being nice guys (YES PEOPLE - I MET THEM!!) I’m not even bothering to dignify the stupid comments about scissors scissors and RW (sorry cant even bring myself to type the name in its so comical) with a response. What makes Glastonbury SOOOO special is that Michael manages to get REAL legends to headline, yes Muse, the Verve ,Snow Patrol HAVE to be there but while it’s still possible let the legends have the headliner spot…..Prince, U2 , Springsteen,the list goes on are the the kind of band that make Glasto what it is…

Apollo 440 for me, I can not get to see them they are always abroad and they are so underrated I can hardly beleve it. Seen them on dvd and on line and wow what a concert a must see band.After ten years of trying to get to see them they did a gig in Sydney Harbour New Years Day with Basement Jaxx and I nearly went to that but could not Get time of work.

Were all amazing. Muse are the best band there ever was and ever will be. Matt isn’t human, he’s too good. Vocals, piano / keyboard and guitar. We are blessed.
Make it happen Glastonbury and sign the best band in the world for it now. So amazing live, makes me leak.

oh my god, i have only just dicovered The Muse - being an out of times, single parent, who just starting to experience life again at 44 AND with this also HOPEFULLY being my first GLASTONBURY visit with my fantastic friend, would just die for The Muse to be there, i hope my neighbours like them cos they dont get much choice, my son lent me Black Holes and Revelations’, because i heard Starlight and was totally addicted, oh oh oh oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh god yes!!
Did Glasto 2004 for the first time at the age of 39(festival virgin!)Loved every min even the mud,but when MUSE hit the stage I thought I had died and gone to Bellamy heaven I was blown away.Muse never fail to hit the spot not matter what your love of music may be.MUSE is a fantasic generation puller its great to see young and old moshing to the same tunes So YES Muse for headliner please! please! please!(maybe Matt could do a DUET with his Dad now that would be cool!)
Headliners are already confirmed as Kings of Leon on Friday, Jay-Z on Sat and the Verve on Sunday.
I’m going for first time this year, the line-up is pretty poor so far though, JAY-Z WHY?!?!

Have seen Muse 3 times - including Wembley last year - they would be by far the most fantastic band to headline Glastonbury. They were amazing at Glastonbury last time and never fail to give a fabulous spectacle. Musically brilliant. As they’re at V it looks unlikely though….
Muse are superb, fantastic, amazing. Matt Bellamy and his band are musical geniouses….love em. Having seen them at Glasto twice, and 3 times at other venues I cannot say enuf good things about them. Brilliant, genius, musicians…..
