How to get to Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury Festival is located at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.  It’s actually closer to Shepton Mallet, than Glastonbury!

Driving directions to Glastonbury Festival

There are two main entrances for cars, depending where you are coming from, but if you have a choice - approach from the A303 then A37 (Blue Route), where there is more parking space and less queueing. in 2005, a new additional route added to the Blue Route, eased the flow.

If at all possible, avoid the peak time between noon and midnight on Thursday.
From London: M3 then A303 and A37.

From the North East: A1 or M1, M25 to M3 (Junction 12), then A303 and A37.

From the Midlands: Preferably M40 and A34 to A303 and A37.

From the North West: M6, M5 to A39 (Junction 23) then A361.

From Wales: M4, M5 to A39 (as above)

From the West Country: A37 or A361

If you do decide to bring your car to Glastonbury Festival please buy a car parking ticket when you purchase your ticket. Tickets cost £10 for the weekend.

Please drive safely and keep your speed down throughout the festival site and surrounding villages.

Leaving the festival can be a nightmare and the worst times are late on Sunday and Monday between 9am and 4pm.  Queues of up to 8 hours are not uncommon.

Trains to Glastonbury Festival

The nearest train station to Glastonbury Festival is Castle Cary.  This is served by First Great-Western and is on the main London to Plymouth line.  Check thetrainline.com for latest fares and train times.

Free coaches to the festival are available from Castle Cary station, but are only for festival goers with valid tickets are permitted to use them. 

Please note that Castle Cary is quite small and can be quite strained at times due to the sheer volume of people.  The coaches aim to meet each train as it arrives, but even they can be caught in traffic, so please be patient.

It’s also very possible that there will be a large police presence at Castle Cary station, which could cause delays.
