Glastonbury co-founder dies

Glastonbury FestivalThe co-founder of the Glastonbury Festival, Arabella Spencer-Churchill, has died at her home in Somerset.

Spencer-Churchill, the granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill, past away after a short illness. She was 58.

Sir Michael Eavis, said that Spencer-Churchill’s “energy, vitality, and great sense of morality and social responsibility have given her a place in our festival history second to none.”

He also added: “May her place in the great eternity be always peaceful, and perhaps the mysteries of the heavens will accommodate her spirit forever.”

Spencer-Churchill was also the founder of the Children’s World Charity. She was believed to have been suffering from pancreatic cancer, reports the BBC.

    I am in shock! I cannot believe she is dead!
    I have recently read a book about the history of the festival and her contribution was immense and I felt for her when I heard about her story of when she was young. RIP Arabella xxx
