It’s that time of year when everyone’s attention draws to the weather for Glastonbury Festival, do you take your wellies or do you take your bikini….or both?!

Glasto weather is almost always associated with the rain and mud baths, but it has been known to be really hot and festival goers have been caught out and ended up coming up with sore heads and burnt red faces!

So, here’s our weather forecast for this weekends 2011 Glastonbury Festival from various sources around the Glastonbury area:

Weather Forecast for Glastonbury 2011

After a damp start following the opening of the festival gates on the Wednesday, the sunshine should move in with only a slight chance of rain throughout Friday.   It’s the evenings that could be damp with almost 5mm of rain predicted for Friday night.

Following the Friday night downpour, there’ll be plenty of mud around the festival site as people start moving around the festival site.  Temperatures for Saturday could hit low 20’s but there’ll be quite a bit of cloud cover making it ‘muggy’ and quite hazy.

Sunday sees the best day of the festival weekend, with a glorious start to the day and temperatures at least 20°c from early on rising to as high as the mid 20’s.  The UV rays will be strong if there’s plenty of sunshine, so remember to wear a hat, sunscreen and take on plenty of liquids (not just beer or cider!).

Friday: Pleasant day but watch out for the rain later on.

Saturday: Damp start but warm day, plenty of cloud though.

Sunday:  Scorchio!  Don’t get too sunburnt, remember to wear a hat & sunscreen.

If you’re driving down to this years Glastonbury Festival, you’re no doubt gonna need some directions to ensure you don’t get lost!

Postcode for Glastonbury is BA4 4BY – plan your route with the AA Routefinder.

Worthy Farm where the Glastonbury Festival is located near Shepton Mallet in the south-west of England.

It’s located off the M5 and the major roads into the festival site are the A39 and A361, which are always busy before and after the festival.

Avon and Somerset Police gave this bit of advice, “The Glastonbury Festival is situated in a small village in a rural area of East Somerset. Pilton, the host village, is surrounded by country lanes and hamlets so when 178,000 people and nearly 50,000 cars, campervans and trailers descend on the area it can become pretty busy!

If possible, we would encourage you to travel to the festival using public transport – cutting down on the number of cars around the Somerset villages and also reducing your carbon footprint!”

The Glastonbury Festival site is huge and if you’re not careful will most probably get lost at some point – especially after a few ciders!

The nice folks over at the Guardian have produced a nifty Glastonbury site map for the 2010 festival which shows where all the stages are, as well as camping, parking, beer tents and the infamous ‘Glastonbury toilets’!

It’s inevitable you’ll get lost, but we recommend taking a mobile and ensuring you’ve got all your mates numbers in it and arranging a suitable meeting place should any of you get lost .

The BBC are back with their fantastic Glastonbury webcam and it’s a great way to watch the festival site at Worthy Farm take shape and fill up over the next few days for the 2010 festival.

There’s already a lot of tents springing up from many of the early arrivals, but there’s still plenty of room left in the outer fields.

On the right is the Pyramid stage webcam – taken at 10:47am this morning (Wednesday 23rd June 2010) and you can see just how much has gone into making the festival site ready for this weekend.

We’ve waited all year for Glastonbury 2010 and the day has finally arrived when the gates to Glastonbury open and everyone piles in and claims their spot for the weekend.

Headliners for Glastonbury 2010 are Gorillaz, Muse and Stevie Wonder.  Also on the lineup for Glastonbury are Dizzee Rascal, Scissor Sisters, Faithless, The Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys and many more.

Glastonbury Weather Update

Reports from the site are that the ground is very dry and the weather is very sunny – so ensure you take some sunscreen and a hat etc.

With the less than a week to go until the gates open for the 2010 Glastonbury Festival, all thoughts will be on the weather and whether to expect a heatwave or a mudbath!

Glastonbury festival has had it’s fair share of mudbaths and has fell victim to the good old British Summer, but it all adds to the fun and you’ve not been to a proper festival if you don’t come home a bit muddy.

Looking at various weather reports, and although early to predict, it’s does appear that there is a definite chance of rain over next weekend.  Remember to pack those wellies just in case!  Need wellies? Glastonbury 2010 Weather Forecast:

• Friday 25th June – A risk of a light shower overnight and a cloudy yet warm start to the day. Temps could reach 20°C by mid afternoon.  Slight risk of light rain throughout the day, so carry that packamac with you!

• Saturday 26th June – Feeling slightly cooler than yesterday, Saturday is another day of cloudy skies with the odd risk of light showers.  Temperatures won’t reach much more than around 17°C and you could be lucky and get some sunshine poking it’s head out of the clouds.

• Sunday 27th June – Dry start to the day and a fairly pleasant Sunday morning, which will continue into the afternoon and early evening as the clouds moves away.

All in all, a good chance of a fairly damp-free Glastonbury with just the odd risk of light rain throughout the weekend.  Watch out though as any rain that does fall, soon gets churned up and it can become quite muddy in places, especially on well trodden paths – don’t forget our festival checklist to ensure you’ve got you need for the festival!

A limited number of tickets for the Glastonbury 2010 festival are now on sale.  The tickets available are re-sale tickets and open to anyone who has pre-registered with the festival organisers.

Glastonbury tickets can be purchased through official ticket site, Seetickets.com and are priced at £185 for the full weekend with camping.

Alternatively, tickets can be bought through the Seetickets booking line on 0844 412 4635.

Please remember that you must have pre-registered to be eligible to purchase tickets for Glastonbury 2010.

Glastonbury 2010 has sold out in less than 24 hours, after tickets for next years festival went on sale early yesterday morning.

A statement on the Glastonbury Festival website said, “Tickets for Glastonbury 2010 went on sale at 9am this morning (Sunday 4 October) and the festival’s 40th anniversary is now sold out.

“Thank you to all those who bought tickets. Confirmation emails are still in the process of being sent out.

“For those who didn’t manage to reserve or buy tickets today (Sunday), there will be a small number of tickets on sale over the coming weeks when any failed transactions have been cancelled.

“For anyone who is not already registered, registration will reopen at 9am tomorrow (Monday 5 October) at www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk.”

Tickets for Glastonbury cost £185 for the full weekend which includes camping.  Already people not wanting to stay in a tent, are making use of the local Travelodges with the Glastonbury Travelodge reporting an increase in bookings.

Glastonbury 2010 takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from Wednesday June 23rd to Sunday June 27th 2010.

Extra tickets may be released in the coming weeks, as tickets are cancelled or no longer required.
