Sir Paul McCartney has been confirmed for the 2010 Isle of Wight lineup and is set to close the festival on Sunday 13th June.

Macca will be joining the already splendid Isle of Wight festival lineup with, Doves, Spandau Ballet, Editors, James, Ocean Colour Scene and Jay Z.

Sir Paul has never played at Isle of Wight Festival despite The Beatles mentioning the festival in their song “When I’m 64″.

Sir Paul said ““I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round.  This will be my first show on the Isle of Wight and I’m looking forward to a rollicking night of rock n’ roll”.

Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park in Newport on the Isle of Wight from June 11th to June 13th.

Tickets for the  Isle of Wight Festival are priced at £150 for the weekend with camping and £130 without, and are available through the official ticket site – Seetickets.com

Just a week left to the 2009 Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park in Newport on the Isle of Wight and the weather is on everyone’s minds.

Being southerly, the Isle of Wight does enjoy a fair bit of sunshine and good temperatures for most of the summer.

The 2009 Isle of Wight Festival takes place from Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June and here’s our forecast for those three days and it’s looking good!

Friday 12th June: A bright start with just a hint of cloud and a slight breeze, becoming cloudier as the day progresses.  Temperatures expected to be between 12°c and 15°c.

Saturday 13th June: Some slight overnight rain may be evident on the ground, or that could well be that can of lager you kicked over before going to bed!  Slightly warmer than Friday, although it will be a cloudy for more of the day with the best of the sunshine appearing later on in the day.

Sunday 14th June: Sunday is the looking to be the best day of the festival, with zero chance of rain and plenty of sunshine.  A slight breeze will keep you cool with temperatures set to be around 15°c.

Counterfeit tickets caused Friday-night delays for some people arriving to the Isle of Wight festival, resulting in up to a 90 minute wait to get onto the site.

Festival goers who had bought the convincing-looking fake tickets – having spent up to £300 – still had to be turned away. The sold-out event had strict capacity limits and licensing requirements, so only genuine ticket holders could be allowed in.

This extra checking on the gate caused many people to miss some of Friday night’s performers, which including a fantastic set from The Feeling, prior to the rousing dance music of Groove Armada and the lighters-in-the-air Snow Patrol.

The weather forecast for this weekends Isle of Wight Festival is looking hot, hot, hot!

Highs of 26 are forecast for the Saturday and the sun is set to shine all weekend, with very little chance of rain.

Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park in Newport on the Isle of Wight.  Snow Patrol, Groove Armada, Muse, Kasabian, The Rolling Stones and Keane are headlining.

The Rolling Stones have revealed that they will be headlining the Isle Of Wight Festival on the 10th of June.

Mick Jagger told the BBC, he would have liked to play Glastonbury, but “the Isle Of Wight was the one who offered, so that’s the we did.”

The Stones join Paulo Nutini, Snow Patrol, The Feeling and Kasabian – full Isle Of Wight Lineup

This years headliners for the Isle of Wight Festival have been announced.

Isle of Wight Tickets

Snow Patrol and The Feeling have been confirmed as openers on the Friday night.

Confirmed to appear on Saturday are Muse, Kasabian, Amy Winehouse and Ash.

They join the already confirmed Keane, The Fratellis, Paulo Nutini and James Morrison.

Tickets for Isle of Wight Festival go on sale on Thursday and start at £105.

This years Nokia Isle Of Wight Festival has now sold out.

The recent announcements that Coldplay and the Foo Fighters are set to play, have meant a mad rush for tickets.

The festival takes place between June 9th and June 11th at Seaclose Park on the Isle of Wight.
