Scissor Sisters NOT to headline Glasto 05

28th May 2005 - 05:00

Scissor Sisters will not be the final headlining act at Glastonbury 2005.
The band have confirmed that while they’d love to, they will not be filling Kylie’s shoes, while the Eavis’s have approved a Roses comeback.

The Killers are now also rumoured to headline in place of Kylie.

In a new statement on their official website www.scissorsisters.com, the Scissor Sisters have responded to the rumours about their possible appearance at the event, saying,

“We’re not playing Glasto this year. As much as we’d like to, it’s sadly not going to happen. Don’t believe what you read in the papers. Come see us in Ireland (our only shows that you can still get tickets to). Lots of love - Ana, Babydaddy, Del, Jake and Paddy.”

The band will be playing the Bud Rising Summer Shows at Lansdowne Road Stadium in Ireland on August 24.

But while a Scissors headline slot is out of the question, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has given her blessing to the rumoured Stone Roses performance.

In a recent interview with Time Out Magazine she explained, “You couldn’t get two bigger Roses fans than me and my dad [co-organiser and founder, Michael Eavis]. If they reformed we’d definitely want them to headline – especially ten years after they had to cancel. That would be amazing!”
