Snoop Dogg and P Diddy cancel UK tour
27th March 2007 - 09:46Snoop Dogg and P Diddy have cancelled their joint concerts in the UK, due to Snoop Dogg being denied a visa.
A spokesperson for the two said the shows were cancelled despite “credible behind the scenes efforts were made to no avail to reverse the decision”.
They were due to perform at Wembley on Tuesday, as well as Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and Nottingham.
Snoop Dogg was said to be furious and frustrated at the decision.
“They knew I was coming six, seven weeks ago, so they could have denied me access then,” he said.
He added: “I cannot control my past - me being an ex-gang member, ex-drug dealer - but I know how to do what’s right, how to turn my life around.”
Born Calvin Broadus, Jr, he has been plagued with legal problems including charges relating to weapons, drugs and assault in the US and the UK.
In April 2006, the rapper and five other men were arrested on charges of violent misconduct and starting a brawl at Heathrow Airport.
The Home Office said it would not comment on individual cases, but added that the government had the power to refuse entrance to individuals whose presence in the country would ‘not be conducive to the public good’.
Their tour is set to resume in Dublin on the 31st of March. Ticketholders for their UK shows should contact their ticket sellers, such as See Tickets or Ticketmaster to arrange a refund.
