Canada will host the first North American version of the V Festival in September this year.

The Flaming Lips and Gnarls Barkey will be amongst the acts appearing at the two day event, which takes place in Toronto on September 9 and 10.

“It’s the biggest sort of social event on the calendar for a particular age group in the UK. There’s a lot of very, very, very big bands,” said Virgin mogul Richard Branson.

The Toronto event will attract up to 50,000 music lovers, but unlike the festival’s two legs in the UK, there will be no camping.
