V Festival travel information
20th August 2006 - 06:00Those travelling to the popular V-Festival this weekend have been advised to plan ahead.
Instead of being caught up in the excitement and just heading out, festival-goers have been warned to think about which route they will take and even to plan alternatives in case of traffic congestion.
The A12 and M25 around Chelmsford are likely to be the busiest routes over the weekend from August 18th to August 21st.
Drivers travelling to the V Festival at Weston Park in Staffordshire are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and leave plenty of time to get there.
The Highways Agency says that major roads and motorways in the Staffordshire area are likely to be very busy from Friday August 18th to Monday August 21st, with the M6, A5, M54 and A41 likely to be the busiest routes
Motorists should also make sure to carefully check all traffic information available for the major A roads and motorways and to pay attention to the mobile electronic messaging along the A12, which will further keep drivers informed of conditions.
Several name acts such as Radiohead, Morrissey, Bloc Party, Faithless, Beck, Keane, The Charlatans, Fatboy Slim and Kasabian are expected to attract revellers in their thousands.
The Essex Police will be present at the festival with a team of drug-detecting dogs, to prevent any festival-goers from having too good a time, reports East Suffolk news site EADT24.
